Snowden, our 74-bed inpatient behavioral health facility on the grounds of Mary Washington Hospital is seeking to hire Board Certified General and Child/Adolescent Psychiatrists. Our facility offers a full spectrum of inpatient, outpatient, community, and emergency care. In addition, there are opportunities for Psychiatrists to be part of our Outpatient clinic!
Be part of a team led by an esteemed Psychiatrist who is board certified in both psychiatry and addictionology and who completed a fellowship in the study of autistic disorders.
FOR INPATIENT: You will have thorough workups of new patients completed by a Social Worker and Nurse Practitioner. There is no evening or weekend call. In our collaborative team environment, you will focus on providing inpatient services for adults and if certified for adolescents 13 years of age and above. You will have a strong support staff to include physicians, clinical social workers and licensed professional counselors, registered nurses, and expressive therapists. Your schedule will consist of inpatient consultations, meetings and rounding. We also offer outpatient programs for adults in the areas of mental health and substance abuse. In addition, we treat substance abuse through an adult intensive outpatient treatment plan.
Essential Duties and Qualifications:
- Provides diagnostic assessment and treatment.
- Establishes and modifies medical treatment plans; prescribes medication; monitors client’s response to treatment including medication side effects and adverse reactions.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of medicine and psychiatry
- Knowledge of current theories of psychiatric practice including substance use disorders, crisis management and developmental disabilities.
- Ability to diagnose and treat mental illness in relation to substance use disorders and physical conditions.
- Ability to deal effectively with children (if certified) and adults with emotional and behavioral disturbances.
- Ability to work within an interdisciplinary treatment team to solve problems within scope of responsibility.
- Ability to be Licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia to practice as a medical doctor.
- Experienced Psychiatrists must be Board Certified in General and or Child /Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Residents/Fellows must become Board Certified within one year of hire.
- Must be willing to mentor medical students and residents.
