The Department of Mathematics at Iowa State University invites applications for a new faculty member at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. The primary duties for this position consist of teaching courses at the level of developmental mathematics, including, but not limited to, College Algebra, Precalculus, Trigonometry, and Business Math.
A person holding this position would be responsible for high-quality undergraduate education in these courses and would have the expectation of taking on administrative duties for several courses over time. This position is a 75% full-time equivalent 9-month faculty position (3 courses per semester) for a contract length of 3 years with possibility for renewal. Term faculty members are not eligible for tenure but have potential to be reviewed for advancement into senior term faculty ranks.
A successful candidate will have an excellent record in teaching courses at the developmental level and/or introductory level of calculus. They will also have a record of proficiency with software systems such as ALEKS, MyLabs, and Canvas.
Requirements
Required Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
A record of 5 years of excellence in postsecondary teaching focused on developmental mathematics
Experience working with graduate teaching assistants
